Brooklyn “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful...” William Morris Erica-Lynn Huberty, owner of Blossom Haven Interior Design, combines a vast knowledge of the technical aspects, and the history, of interior design and architecture, gearing this knowledge toward contemporary client needs. Designing interiors for residential and commercial spaces, she focuses on individual tastes and preferences, and infusing character into spaces, rather than imposing "cookie cutter" ideas. Exceptional taste and a keen sense of practicality, while keeping interiors relevant and livable, are trademarks of her designs. Historic and a-typical spaces provide an exciting challenge for her, as she excels in dealing with unique architectural problems. Ms. Huberty has been featured in several magazines and newspapers. She was chosen as one of 20 celebrated designers (along with HGTV’s Libby Langdon and Gracie Mansion designer Jamie Drake) to design two rooms in the 2006 HC&G Idea House in Water Mill. This Old House Magazine also presented her “House Calls” column--a regular editorial feature written by the top architects and designers in the country--in the October 2006 issue. Ms. Huberty attended Parsons School of Design, then obtained her B.A. with honors from New York University. She received her M.F.A. in Visual Arts & Design from Bennington College (as well as an M.A. in literature), completed post-graduate programs at the RISD Museum School, RI, and Metropolitan Institute of Interior Design, NY, and trained extensively with two Master Fine Finishers (in all paint and wood finishes), giving her a technical edge and knowledge base beyond the ordinary designer.
